Nine leave days. That is all it takes to turn 2027 into 28 days off, spread across three proper breaks: Holy Week, Undas and the Christmas to New Year stretch. The catch is that 2027 is a stingy year in other ways. Six of its holidays land on a Saturday, so if you work Monday to Friday, they add no extra days off.
The official list of Philippine holidays 2027 is out. Malacañang signed Proclamation No. 1427 on 8 September 2026, and it sets 10 regular holidays, 8 special non-working days and 1 special working day. Below you get the full list, the seven long weekends that need zero leave, the exact days to file for the longest breaks, what the Saturday holidays mean for your pay, and where it makes sense to fly on each one from Manila, Cebu, Clark or Davao. Everything here is as of October 2026.

Source: Proclamation No. 1427 as reported by the Philippine Information Agency. Chinese New Year, Black Saturday, All Souls’ Day and Christmas Eve were added as extra special non-working days on top of the usual list.
Two things worth knowing straight away. EDSA Day is a working day again, so 25 February is a normal Thursday for most people. And All Souls’ Day stays a special non-working day, which is what turns Undas into a four-day weekend.
The 7 long weekends of 2027 you get without filing leave
Count only the breaks that need zero leave, and 2027 gives you seven long weekends. The last one is easy to miss because it spills into 2028.
- New Year: 1 to 3 January (Friday to Sunday, 3 days)
- Holy Week: 25 to 28 March (Maundy Thursday to Easter Sunday, 4 days)
- Araw ng Kagitingan: 9 to 11 April (Friday to Sunday, 3 days)
- National Heroes Day: 28 to 30 August (Saturday to Monday, 3 days)
- Undas: 30 October to 2 November (Saturday to Tuesday, 4 days)
- Christmas: 24 to 26 December (Friday to Sunday, 3 days)
- Year end: 30 December to 2 January 2028 (Thursday to Sunday, 4 days)
That is 24 days of long weekends on the calendar before you touch your leave credits. The Holy Week and Undas breaks are the strongest of the lot because they run four days, which is enough for a short trip abroad without feeling rushed.
The year end break is the sleeper. Rizal Day on Thursday and the Last Day of the Year on Friday sit right before New Year’s Day 2028, which falls on a Saturday. Four days off, no leave, and it lands when half your barkada is home from abroad anyway.

How to stack leave in 2027: 9 leave days, 28 days off
This is where the year gets good. Three breaks each turn into nine or ten days with just three days of leave.
| Break | File leave on | Leave days | Days off in a row |
|---|---|---|---|
| Holy Week | 22, 23, 24 March (Mon to Wed) | 3 | 9 (20 to 28 March) |
| Undas | 3, 4, 5 November (Wed to Fri) | 3 | 9 (30 October to 7 November) |
| Christmas to New Year | 27, 28, 29 December (Mon to Wed) | 3 | 10 (24 December to 2 January 2028) |
| Bonifacio Day | 29 November (Mon) | 1 | 4 (27 to 30 November) |
| Immaculate Conception | 9, 10 December (Thu, Fri) | 2 | 5 (8 to 12 December) |
The first three rows are the headline: 9 leave days for 28 days off. If your company gives 15 days of vacation leave, that still leaves you six for emergencies, birthdays and the odd lazy Monday.
A few honest notes before you file anything:
- Holy Week is the one to lock in first. It is the first big break of the year, and every office has the same idea. File the moment your leave calendar for 2027 opens.
- The Christmas plan depends on Christmas Eve staying a non-working day, which it is under Proclamation No. 1427. If your company runs a skeleton crew on 24 December, check if you are on it before booking.
- Bonifacio Day and Immaculate Conception sit close together. Pick one. Using both burns three leave days for two short breaks in the busiest weeks of the year.
- If you work Saturdays, each plan needs extra leave for any Saturday in the block that is not a holiday. Ask HR how your rest days are counted.
Six Philippine holidays land on a Saturday in 2027
Chinese New Year, Black Saturday, Labor Day, Independence Day, Ninoy Aquino Day and Christmas Day all fall on a Saturday. For a Monday to Friday worker, those six add no extra day off, though the regular holidays among them still count for pay.
For the many Filipinos who do work Saturdays (retail, restaurants, factories, a good chunk of BPO accounts), they matter a lot more. Here is how the pay works, per DOLE Labor Advisory No. 17, series of 2026, as reported by GMA News:
- Regular holiday, not worked: 100% of your daily wage, as long as you reported for work or were on paid leave the day before.
- Regular holiday, worked: 200% of your daily wage for the first eight hours.
- Special non-working day, not worked: “no work, no pay”, unless your company policy or CBA says otherwise.
- Special non-working day, worked: 130% of your basic wage for the first eight hours.
- Special working day (EDSA Day): ordinary pay. It counts as a normal workday.
So Labor Day, Independence Day and Christmas Day on a Saturday are still paid days for a Saturday worker who does not report in. Chinese New Year, Black Saturday and Ninoy Aquino Day are not, unless your employer is generous. This is general information, not legal advice. Your HR or the nearest DOLE office has the final word for your situation.
Eid’l Fitr and Eid’l Adha 2027: dates still to come
Both Eid holidays are regular holidays in the Philippines, but they are not in Proclamation No. 1427. The proclamation says separate proclamations will be issued once the dates are fixed by the Islamic calendar, on the recommendation of the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos.
Astronomical estimates give a rough idea, and they are estimates only:
- Eid’l Fitr: around Tuesday 9 March or Wednesday 10 March 2027, per projections reported by Khaleej Times. A Tuesday Eid would make a four-day weekend with one leave day on Monday 8 March.
- Eid’l Adha: around Sunday 16 May or Monday 17 May 2027, from the same source. A Monday Eid would give the year an eighth long weekend, 15 to 17 May.
Do not book non-refundable flights around either date until Malacañang announces them. The Philippine date can differ by a day from the Gulf countries.
Where to go on each long weekend from the Philippines
The short breaks and the long breaks call for different trips. Three-day weekends are for domestic trips or one short hop abroad. The nine and ten day stretches are where a real trip fits.

Three-day weekends (New Year, Araw ng Kagitingan, Heroes Day, Christmas): stay domestic or go somewhere under two hours away. Cebu is the easy pick from Manila. Trip.com’s own data puts the average Manila to Cebu round trip at around PHP 2,885 in March and PHP 3,787 in December over the past 12 months.
Save Batanes for a four-day break like Holy Week or Undas, when the stone houses and empty coves are worth the longer trip. If that is the plan, compare places to stay around Basco early, because the island has limited rooms and they go first on long weekends.
Holy Week (9 days with leave): this is your best window for a trip abroad in the first half of 2027. Two visa-free options for Philippine passport holders stand out:
For more options, our list of visa-free Asian countries you can visit with a Philippine passport covers the rest of the region. And if you would rather stay close to home for the religious side of the week, here are our best Holy Week destinations in Asia.

What the fares look like. These are average round-trip fares from Trip.com’s past 12 months of data, checked 18 October 2026. Treat them as a floor, not a holiday quote:
| Route | March average | November average | December average |
|---|---|---|---|
| Manila to Hong Kong | PHP 4,657 | PHP 4,958 | PHP 6,266 |
| Manila to Taipei | PHP 5,938 | PHP 6,658 | PHP 6,950 |
| Manila to Cebu | PHP 2,885 | PHP 3,559 | PHP 3,787 |
Monthly averages flatten the spikes. Holy Week, Undas and the days right before Christmas cost noticeably more than the month’s average, because everyone is flying the same three days. You can check current Manila to Hong Kong fares on Trip.com to see where the 2027 dates sit right now.
Undas (9 days with leave): Hong Kong works well here too, and November is usually one of the cheaper months on that route. Taipei is a maybe until Taiwan announces what happens after July 2027, but if it renews, you can compare Manila to Taipei fares the same way.
Wherever you go abroad, sort data before you land: an Airalo eSIM for Hong Kong installs on your phone before you leave NAIA, so you skip the roaming bill from Globe or Smart.
Christmas to New Year (10 days with leave): most Filipinos spend this at home, and fair enough. If you are travelling, the domestic hubs fill up fastest. For overseas trips, ten days is enough for a longer route, but this is the most expensive week of the year to fly.

When to book flights for the 2027 long weekends
The early seat sales already cover part of 2027. Cebu Pacific’s 9.9 seat sale in September 2026 had a travel period of 1 January to 31 May 2027, per The Poor Traveler’s roundup, which takes in Holy Week, Araw ng Kagitingan and both possible Eid weekends. That booking window has closed, but it tells you how the airlines work: the deep discounts land months ahead, and on the quiet dates first.
A practical order for 2027:
- Now to December 2026: book Holy Week. It is the first big break and the one that sells out.
- January to March 2027: watch the sales for Undas and the Christmas season, and book once a fare you are happy with shows up.
- Any time: the three-day weekends. Domestic fares on short routes move less, and you can book a few weeks out.
Remember that seat sale fares are base fares. Taxes, terminal fees and baggage come on top, which is why we broke down what a PHP 1 piso fare really costs. For the full fare curve out of NAIA, see our guide to the best time to book flights from the Philippines.

One more thing for the overseas trips. Typhoon season overlaps with Undas, and a cancelled flight on a four-day weekend can eat the whole trip. See what SafetyWing costs for a short trip abroad and read what it covers for trip delays before you buy.
