Over the past year, we’ve welcomed some great new team members to Tourism Tiger. To help introduce them, we asked a few simple questions about their roles, their day-to-day work, and their travel highlights. Here are their answers.
What’s your name, your role at Tourism Tiger, and a highlight from somewhere you’ve travelled?
Paulina Pernalete
My name is Paulina, I’m the Digital Marketing Executive at TourismTiger, and back in 2023, I travelled to Buenos Aires to watch Taylor Swift live! Definitely a highlight.
Chandler Geber-Roth
Hello, my name is Chandler and I am an Account Manager at TourismTiger. One of my travel highlights was exploring Rio de Janeiro, Brazil last year with my wife. We loved the tropical landscapes, fresh açaí bowls, and navigating the vibrant city. A standout moment was experiencing an authentic Brazilian fútbol match, the atmosphere was electric, with fans shouting, singing, and dancing.
Gabriela Vicuña
Hi! I’m Gaby, a designer at Tourism Tiger, and I’m from Chile. One highlight from one of my recent travels is when I went to visit my older brother in Barcelona with my family. We’re not really the outdoorsy kind, any of us! But for some reason we decided to rent a caravan and go around the south coast of Spain. Non-stop fighting and snoring aside, it was an amazing experience 😅
Dion Blair
My name is Dion Blair and I am an Account Manager at Tourism Tiger. A highlight from my travels was visiting Machu Picchu in Peru.
Claudia Rivas
Hi! I’m Claudia, and I work in the Tiger Care team. I handle content updates, backend troubleshooting, and make sure everything runs smoothly with the latest theme and plugin updates across the websites.
A travel highlight for me was drinking my morning coffee by the beach in Venezuela. There’s something really peaceful about hearing the waves and watching the beautiful sky while enjoying a freshly made coffee by the sea. It is one of those simple but unforgettable moments.
What does a typical day at Tourism Tiger look like for you?
Paulina Pernalete
Most days, it’s just me and my giant water bottle, planning strategies and executing campaigns for our clients. And whenever I don’t have meetings, I play some of my favorite playlists or a good podcast! Helps me focus.
Chandler Geber-Roth
Our weeks often start with the “wheels running” as we tackle requests that came in over the weekend. Weekly meetings help us align goals and objectives before diving into dedicated projects. Much of our work revolves around timelines and deadlines, which requires close collaboration across TigerCare, the Project Team, and our Web Developers. Some of the typical tasks we perform are updating pricing for tours, adding content to websites, developing new tour pages, creating testimonial layouts, checking Google Analytics and giving industry best recommendations to our clients.
Gabriela Vicuña
I usually start my day by making my morning coffee and checking my emails. I go through my to-do list to organize myself and then get to designing or building depending on each project’s status. I can always trust my perpetually hungry puppy to keep me alert at any given time, she always knows when I need a break 🐶
Dion Blair
A typical day at Tourism Tiger involves answering and resolving client requests via email or video call, updating and maintaining client websites, and building new webpages.
Claudia Rivas
A typical day usually includes reviewing client requests, implementing website updates, and troubleshooting backend issues. I also spend time connecting with my colleagues, whether they need support from me or I need help from them or another team.
What’s one thing you’ve enjoyed most about working at Tourism Tiger so far?
Paulina Pernalete
I definitely enjoy our get-togethers! Even though working remotely has a lot of pros, I always enjoy a good time with my co-workers.
Chandler Geber-Roth
The challenge of this role has fueled immense professional growth, especially in technical skills. I’m constantly adapting to new technology trends, and our team is always looking for innovative website features to align with our organizational goals. One of the most refreshing moments is after successfully launching a new website and being able to thank the many team members that helped contribute to the website design.
Gabriela Vicuña
I’ve really enjoyed working with so many different people, both within Tourism Tiger and also our clients. I get to work with people from all over the world, which is not something I’ve encountered before. I’m constantly pushed to look at things from a different perspective, so it’s really hard to get bored!
Dion Blair
I really like the great work culture at Tourism Tiger and I also enjoy being able to work remotely.
Claudia Rivas
One thing I’ve really enjoyed is the collaborative environment. Even when we’re busy, the team is supportive and open to helping each other solve problems. It makes tackling technical challenges much more rewarding.
What’s something you’ve learned since joining the team?
Paulina Pernalete
I learned a lot about the technical aspects of how a web design agency looks from the inside. But one of the things I value most is the diversity of our team and how valuable their experiences have been. I’ve learned a lot from them as well!
Chandler Geber-Roth
I’ve learned how diverse my colleagues are, and that diversity creates an incredible team dynamic. We have team members from several different countries and hearing about each person’s background and accomplishments is inspiring. On the technical side, I’ve gained hands-on experience launching websites and migrating them by adjusting Domain Name Server (DNS) records.
Gabriela Vicuña
I’ve learned to trust my skills and my knowledge, but also that we’re all constantly getting better at what we do. It’s really nice to know I can rely on the rest of my team, knowing everyone is not only professional, but also really kind.
Dion Blair
I have learned how to use WordPress to build web pages and perform website maintenance.
Claudia Rivas
I’ve learned a lot about managing websites and about relying on my teammates. We are always there for each other when support is needed. I have also improved my communication skills when explaining technical issues to clients in a clear and simple way.
Just for fun, what’s a place still on your travel wishlist?
Paulina Pernalete
There are a lot of places I would love to go! But for now, Sevilla and Mexico City remain at the top of my list.
Chandler Geber-Roth
Japan is for sure on my list. I’d love to immerse myself in the culture, try authentic Japanese cuisine, and explore the country’s unique blend of tradition and innovation. Growing up in Hawaii, there continues to be a huge Japanese influence so it has been a goal of mine to visit and learn from the people that live there.
Gabriela Vicuña
After watching a million videos on Youtube, I really want to go to Korea and try all kinds of food! Everything looks so different and tasty 🤤
Dion Blair
I would like to visit the Great Wall of China.
Claudia Rivas
Japan is definitely at the top of my list of countries to visit. I love anime, and through it I have discovered Japanese customs, gastronomy, and architecture. I would love to experience all of that in person someday.
